Significant increase in social media reach and digital footprint forming basis of league’s long-term ambitions

Zug, Switzerland – The Swedish Handball League and its clubs have celebrated a significant increase in their digital reach after the introduction of products from Infront’s Engines 365 digital suite.

The five-year long partnership, currently in its first season, saw Infront Lab, the innovation arm of Infront, provide a digital ecosystem powered by its full suite of products, Engines 365, designed to grow the game of handball in Sweden and enhance the league’s distribution and online presence. This included creating Handbollsligan Live, a streaming service for all games, both live and on-demand, through Stream Engine – Engines 365’s dedicated video streaming platform. It was supplemented by Content Engine for the automated creation and distribution of social media video content as well as Template Engine for semi-automated graphic content that is ready to publish. Activation Engine, which uses short interactive games to collect first and zero-party data, was used in posts, newsletters and on Handbollsligan Live to generate engagement and understand fan preferences. The team leveraged Insight Engine to integrate data from all league and club channels into one place helping make data-driven decisions, completing the full-service offering.

Since the introduction of these new tools, the league’s and clubs’ average number of Facebook video views increased by more than 785 percent whilst their Instagram reach went up by over 65 percent. In addition, more than 78,000 hours of content was watched on the league’s dedicated OTT platform, which currently registers almost 13,000 fans.

Peter Gentzel, CEO of the Swedish Handball League, said: “Our agreement with Infront and Infront Lab is still in its early stages, but we can already see a its instrumental impact from it. The tremendous growth in reach on Instagram and Facebook that both leagues and clubs have experienced since last autumn is a very promising start to our collaboration.”

Damian Browarnik, Managing Director of Infront Lab, said: "The clear aims from the beginning of our work with the Swedish Handball League were engagement and growth in the sport and this first season has been about establishing a benchmark. Our collaborative efforts and the Engines 365 products have amplified the digital footprint of the clubs and strengthened the bond between them and their fans, providing more audience data than ever before. What we’re hoping to from next season on is the next phase of both fan engagement and commercialisation, and we are excited to keep pushing to reach full potential for both men’s and women’s leagues and all the clubs in the competition.”

Engines 365 is a comprehensive digital product suite aimed at empowering sports organisations. The suite brings unprecedented control over content and fan engagement and comprises five core products: Stream Engine, Activation Engine, Content Engine, Insight Engine, and Template Engine, each designed to address distinct needs in the market.
