Consortium led by L Catterton in partnership with HYROX founders acquires Infront’s majority stake in HYROX
London, UK / Zug, Switzerland - Infront Sports & Media AG (Infront), the leading international sports business company, today announced the completion of the sale of its majority stake in HYROX to a consortium led by L Catterton, the largest global consumer-focused investment firm, alongside HYROX founders Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste. WndrCo, the investment firm founded and led by Jeffrey Katzenburg and his partner Sujay Jaswa, will also participate in the transaction. This marks an important milestone in HYROX’s continued growth. Financial terms were not disclosed.
HYROX was created by Christian Toetzke, an industry veteran in the international cycling and triathlon world, and Moritz Fürste, one of Germany’s greatest ever field hockey players and successful entrepreneur. In less than a decade HYROX has become a global phenomenon including events, training programmes and affiliate gyms around the world that together deliver a competition format that inspires and unites athletes. The new partnership brings together HYROX’s category-defining brand and community with L Catterton’s extensive experience scaling high-growth consumer and fitness businesses around the world. Together, the founders and L Catterton will continue to invest in delivering an exceptional experience for HYROX athletes and the development of Hybrid Racing as a global sport.
Infront first invested in HYROX in December 2019 and became majority owner in October 2022. Under Infront’s tenure, HYROX has experienced remarkable global growth, with more than 100 events attracting over 1.4 million participants and more than 1.5 million spectators across the 2025/26 season. The investment in HYROX was part of the Group’s Active Lifestyle unit, where Infront continues to have strong ties with the Abbott World Marathon Majors series including the Sydney and Cape Town Marathons and the Abbott World Marathon Major Candidate Race Shanghai Marathon. This is alongside a strong portfolio of mass participation event series, including B2Run, XLETIX, Muddy Angel Run and Megamarsch. Participation sport remains an important growth area for Infront.
Philippe Blatter, Infront President & CEO, commented: “Over the past seven years, HYROX developed into a highly successful and fast-growing global business, delivering strong returns for Infront. Following a thorough strategic review, we have decided to divest our stake, as we believe this transaction represents the right next step as HYROX enters its next phase of development. Supported by a compelling offer that reflects the platform’s strength and prospects, this transaction allows Infront to realise the value created through the partnership while focusing on new growth opportunities, particularly in the Active Lifestyle sector.”
Hans-Peter Zurbruegg, Infront’s Senior Vice President Active Lifestyle, added: “Through its early investment and expertise in Active Lifestyle, Infront has helped HYROX evolve into a truly global mass participation phenomenon. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, HYROX delivered exceptional growth. It has been a privilege to work alongside Christian, Moritz and the entire HYROX team in shaping the future of fitness. We would like to thank them for their outstanding work and wish them continued success.”
Moritz Fürste commented: “This acquisition marks a pivotal next step in the rapid evolution of the HYROX success story. As co-founders, it has always been our absolute priority to shape the direction and development of HYROX and to steer the movement in the best interest of our global community. We are thrilled to have found the ideal partner in L Catterton to guide HYROX into this next chapter.”
Christian Toetzke added: “HYROX has built the largest mass participation fitness event series globally. In the years ahead, our priorities will be firmly focused on our Olympic aspirations, continuing to welcome millions of people to the HYROX starting line and the opportunities we can see to build and invest in new products that enhance the HYROX offering. We are grateful for the partnership with Infront up to this point and are incredibly excited for the journey that lies ahead.”
Miray Topay, Partner at L Catterton, said: “HYROX has done something rare in sport: built a genuine global community around a brand-new format. Christian and Moritz haven’t just created a race, they’ve created a category. We’re proud to back them as they take Hybrid Racing to a worldwide audience.”
Shena Willis, Managing Director at L Catterton, added: “As consumer specialists L Catterton closely tracks secular trends, and we see HYROX as uniquely well positioned having created a global movement around Hybrid Racing, giving athletes in over 30 countries a place to train, compete and pursue their personal ambitions. We also value deeply the type of partnership we are privileged to have with exceptional founders such as Christian and Moritz and we have tremendous confidence in their leadership as HYROX enters this next chapter.”
