Jointly developed by Infront and the German Football Association the new app is available for iOS and Android platforms

Zug, Switzerland – A new DFB Cup App has been launched ahead of the first main round of the DFB Cup (19 to 22 August 2016) by the German Football Association (DFB). The app is a first in the history of the competition and was developed in close collaboration with the DFB’s official marketing partner Infront Sports & Media and its subsidiary Omnigon.

Diverse interaction and multimedia content

The new mobile platform delivers a number of infotainment, engagement and service benefits through a comprehensive selection of multimedia content. The app enables an active exchange with users and acts as a single point of contact for fans keen to learn more about the DFB Cup, its teams and players.

DFB Media Director Ralf Köttker said: “With the introduction of the new DFB Cup App, we now have an innovative new mobile platform for the DFB Cup which delivers a number of great features for fan enjoyment. Highlights include live radio and interactive games or the ability for fans to vote for the Man of the Match – all content aims to create a special fan experience.“

Stephan Herth, Executive Director Summer Sports & Football at Infront, added: “The official DFB Cup app brings the competition, its many venues, teams, players and partners a giant step closer to the fans and offers real time engagement opportunities – anytime and anywhere. It helps the DFB to extend the Cup's visibility and interaction beyond the actual match day and become a continuous, year-long football happening.”

From concept to implementation from one single source

Claude Ruibal, Executive Director Digital, Production & Sport Solutions at Infront, commented: “With this app, Infront was able to contribute its expertise along the entire digital value chain: We guided the development process from the initial concept to the technological implementation and marketing. The result is an appealing digital home for the DFB Cup, which is fully targeted to the requirements and interests of the fans.”

The app, released in both German and English, was built by Infront’s subsidiary Omnigon, the leading provider of digital technology in sport. Other unique features of the app include a Match Hub with full, live match statistics, detailed club and player pages, photo and video galleries, a social media hub and a page dedicated to full fixtures and results of all previous DFB Cup matches. The product is available for both iOS and Android platforms.
