Virtual technology fills stands and engages audience during conclusion of Italy's domestic cup

Zug, Switzerland – The Coppa Italia Coca Cola final, Italy's top football knock-out tournament, celebrated a TV viewership of over 10 million on 17 June as virtual overlay technology provided by Infront and its technology provider Vizrt covered the stands.

Napoli's 4-2 victory over Juventus following a penalty shoot-out – which was broadcast to almost 220 territories worldwide – saw the empty stands virtually decorated by the two clubs’ colours, the competition logo as well as the Italian flag.

Massimo Magrì, Infront's Head of Virtual Advertising, said: "Football returning is a huge mental boost for fans, but we know that a lack of atmosphere at venues remains an issue. We are glad to go some way to turning this into an opportunity and offer Lega Serie A a potential new avenue to engage fans, communicate with the audience and unlock revenues through tailor-made solutions."
