    COMPETITION​ FORMAT & FACTS

    • 42.195 kilometres (26.2 miles) run.​
    • Africa’s only World Athletics Gold Label Status Marathon and currently a Abbott World Marathon Majors candidate race.​
    • The event has been certified as a Climate Neutral event since 2014; in 2017 & 2018 it achieved Zero Waste to Landfill.​
    • Since 2016, more than 20,000 athletes have participated each year.​
    • The race starts and ends at the iconic beaches of Cape Town.

    SCHEDULING

    • RACE has been moved to May for better running conditions.​
    • START varies between 06:00 – 08:00 CET.​
    • DURATION – the World Feed is approximately 3 hours (covering the fastest male and female elite runners).
