The World Triathlon Series will continue this weekend in Bermuda, the second of nine stops on this year's circuit following the season-opener in Abu Dhabi.

It is the first time the country will host an ITU World Series event, and the island is set to provide a stunning backdrop to the action on the course.

Locals will be hoping home star Flora Duffy will be leading the charge. The 2016 and 2017 World Triathlon Series winner is coming off the back of a storming win at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and will have hoped to have put her DNF in WTS Abu Dhabi behind her. Also toeing the start line in Bermuda will be winner in Abu Dhabi, Rachel Klamer (NED).

In the men's event, all eyes will be on South Africa's Henri Schoeman. He also claimed gold at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and had the perfect start to his season in Abu Dhabi, clinching victory ahead of Spain's two-time World Triathlon Series champion Mario Mola and France's Vincent Luis. Olympic silver-medallist Jonathan Brownlee will also line-up on the start line in Bermuda.

A multi-disciplined sport for a global audience

Triathlon is already one of the fastest growing Olympic sports worldwide. The World Triathlon Series is the top tier event for triathletes around the world, with the world’s top triathletes competing head-to-head for rankings points that determine the overall ITU world champion. With eight stops in the 2018 season, the Series attract over 40,000 participants each year – among them the top elite triathletes of the world. It also has a vast footprint in terms of fans, with some 1.5m spectators worldwide.

In February, Infront announced that they will take on shared responsibility for developing sponsorship opportunities and digital strategies for the ITU World Triathlon Series and the new ITU World Triathlon Mixed Relay Series. The organization is also selling international media rights and offering broadcasting services for both.

This will allow for further growth of the series, with new digital developments helping engage an even wider fan base than Triathlon already enjoys. This includes through the OTT channel, TriathlonLIVE.
